Evening Cookery Club

Evening cooking classes with a difference

This new series of classes offers customers a shorter cooking class but with all the features of our day-long courses. Class sizes are kept small so everyone gets to make their own food to take home.

The evening will include cooking two different dishes and a demonstration of a third.

Each evening class includes a light supper, typically consisting of our own home-made bread, cheeses, chutney, and fruit with salad all served with tea, coffee and soft drinks. In winter months this may be replaced with warming soups.

Christmas Treats

If you are looking for a Christmas night out with a difference then this could be you. If you are bored with average pub turkey dinners and disco why not try our Christmas Cookery Evening instead. The evening will start with tea and coffee on arrival. The first dish we will tackle is mince pies using home made short crust pastry and jars of shop bought mince meat. This is the perfect chance to have a go at making your own pastry, it is easy but does need practice. By Christmas you will be an expert. While those cook you will make a batch of vanilla fudge using just sugar, milk, butter and pure vanilla extract.

After a light supper there will be a demonstration of Christmas pudding making. We will use Eliza Acton's Victorian recipe, it has been much copied (most celebrity chef recipes started with her book) and probably never bettered. If there is enough interest at time of booking then I can make up Christmas pudding kits for a small extra charge.

  • We have space for 8 people on each course and this year we have 3 dates available.
  • Cost: £30 to include course notes, ingredients, light meal and your food to take home.
  • Dates: December 12th (Full), December 16th.
